The circuit is used annually as the host of the Australian Grand Prix, a race in the Formula One World Championship. The track is 5.3 km (3.3 miles) in length and features 16 turns. The circuit is a temporary street circuit, with public roads around the lake being closed off to form the track. The circuit also host other motorsport events such as Australian V8 Supercars and Australian motorcycle Grand Prix.
