The circuit was built on the site of a World War II Royal Air Force bomber station and first host the British Grand Prix in 1950. The circuit is known for its high-speed layout, with a mix of long straights and fast corners, providing opportunities for overtaking. The circuit also features a mix of new and old sections, including the iconic Maggotts, Becketts and Chapel complex, which is challenging for drivers and a favourite among fans.
