Sabi Sands Day Two Afternoon
Where do you go from here? After two highly successful drives, we went out looking for hippopotamus and zebra. Maybe not as interesting as some of the cats we’d seen on the previous two drives, but it adds to the variety. This was a really pleasant afternoon’s drive, we hit out targets and got to see a few of the different birds along the way as well as bumping into a couple of crocodiles and the cutest little furry mongoose. (In the second picture, see if you can spot the second mongoose).
To sidetrack for just a moment, we had an evening out provided by the hotel eating by the campfire and some local entertainment. On the way out we had a female leopard run in front of the jeep whilst carrying its prey. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to get any pictures of it because of the poor light. On the way back we had an owl fly overhead, also carrying its dinner. All-in-all a pretty good evening’s game spotting!
