The second day of the quick trip to Tahoe and another attempt to photograph the white-headed woodpecker. Success!
I have to be honest, I'm quite glad I did see the woodpecker as there wasn't a heap else to see here (at least for us anyway). I have to be honest, I saw the woodpecker and chased it round for about an hour as it moved from tree to tree. Thankfully, it didn't get spooked and fly away and was kind enough to pose for me at the end after I'd finally got round him to have the sun behind me. I kept one of the first snaps I got as I was walking towards the bird and it flew off just as I was about to start taking pictures. The image has been lightened a lot as I was facing the sun and it came out practically black.
The last thing to note was the overly friendly chipmunk that pretty much came and sat on my knee whilst I was waiting for Karen to pick up the car. It actually got too close to me for my camera to focus. When I moved, he did run away and start chowing down on a nut, so I did managed to get a picture of him.
