Bempton Cliffs July 2012

My summer trip back to England. And for summer, read non stop rain-a-thon. Luckily, I only had one day of birding planned amongst a couple of weeks of fishing. We were up at Bridlington and headed to Bempton Cliffs to see the puffins and gannets. The weather held out and we were not disappointed as we saw both of the target birds. Interestingly, there were a lot of twitchers there as the day before, there had been a sighting of an alpine swift. We didn't see the alpine swift, but did learn that it's easy to tell from the local swift on account of the fact that it yodels. Photographed:

  • Atlantic Puffin
  • Common Guillemot
  • Herring Gull
  • Jackdaw
  • Northern Gannet
  • Razorbill
  • Rock Pigeon
  • Tree Sparrow
