I was in two minds whether or not to take a trip out today. After getting caught in the traffic on Friday with all the people going away for the long weekend, I was worried that I would hit the same traffic returning from the break. Fortunately I got up relatively early in order to get out, do my walk and get back before traffic became a problem. Time to visit another of those old favorites, Las Gallinas. Now, there had been reports of a Least Bittern being spotted which would have been great to see, but all that did was brought in a number of birders all looking for the same bird. I was aware of this sighting, but that wasn't the reason for me heading out - this has always been a favorite spot and seems to have a knack of turning up something new every time I visit. Well, today was no different. Not anything amazing, but I've never photographed a common moorhen at Las Gallinas before and today I got to see two of them - one on either side of the lake.
