Finally, after years of talking about it, NASCAR put on a second race in the year at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The first race in the Chase and .... well, .... not many people turned up for it. It was the lowest attended NASCAR race at Las Vegas. Mr O and I have been going for 11 years and were there in the dizzy heights of the venue hosting 156,000 people. “Back in the day” we got extra beers in when the race finished so we had something to drink in the stands while the crowds died down. We then slowly made it back to the car and tailgatted for another couple of hours before even attempting to get out of the car park due to the crowds. Not so this time. Apparently the media estimated about 45,000 people there, but I think it was down as low as 30,000 which is crazy when you think about it .... Leicester City get more than that at their home games!
The race itself was pretty good. The first half was very boring, but then it started to get interesting as drivers made mistakes and fell by the wayside. Brad Keselowski was the deserving winner after dominating the latter stages of the race, but he was put through his paces at the end with a number or late restarts and a green/white/chequered finish.
Very few pictures as I didn't take my camera due to needing to head straight to Seattle for work after the event, but there's a couple and some videos. Race Results
