Another visit to Sonoma with Speed SF again. I've got to be honest, I do love this track. It's very challenging, but when it starts to go right, it feels great. Unfortunately there were a lot of spins again. The second session only lasted 3 laps which is on one of the videos below. The third session was black flagged, but we got back out again (I cut the video where we were just sat in the pits). Thankfully the final two session went without a hitch. The one big anomaly was that a lot of people were complaining about grip, but I really didn't seem to have a problem with it. I think I managed a 1:57 on my prior trip. I managed a whopping 1:52 in session 4 this time out. That's actually a significant number as it's the cut off for the pro class and I'm actually really pleased I managed to achieve it. Obviously now the challenge is to drop into the 1:4x's, but it's not a track to take risks at, so we'll just have to wait for the right day with the right amount of grip. I think the big factor for me today is that my tires are relatively new having only had one outing before this event.
