Buttonwillow SV Point By March 2020
The mission was to get below two minutes and we achieved that. Actually got below two minutes in the first session which was a surprise as there was not a lot of clear track. The second session had yellows for the entire session until it was black flagged, so no decent times there. I actually thought that I wasn't going to get a sub two minutes on camera, but we got one in the third session.
I'll be honest, the third session was pretty odd. In the first two sessions, it had just been a Corvette ZR1 and myself. That thing is fast on the straight, but then in the third session some other cars appeared - two corvettes and a McLaren 720s. The first corvette did the warm up and then went off in turn two. One thing I've found with this track is that you can drive over the white and black strips on the corners fine, but if you brake on them, the car snaps round and it looks like this is what happened to that corvette. Session was black flagged again (and rightly so as he was stuck in a bad spot), restarted and I got my 1:59, then enter the McLaren. If that ZR1 was fast on the straight, this McLaren was a rocket ship. I let him by, but I don't think he wanted to go past me as he was really only pushing it on the straights. He let me back past, then the other Corvette showed up, so I let him past - I'll be honest, he seemed to be going at a good pace. Didn't manage to dip into the 1:58s, but I guess that's for next time.
