A return to the track after four years absence inspired by William's desire to try it out. First thing's first, he had a fantastic day which is the most important thing. I, however, did not fair so well. I came home with William and my car came home with Brandon. Brandon drives a tow truck. My car only has 2nd, 4th and 6th gears. Based on everything I can see online, the dual clutch has one that works the odd numbers and revers and the other that works the even numbers. By all accounts there's a solenoid issue that's jammed stopping the odd numbered clutch from working properly. The car is back in the dealership awaiting their assessment. I am now seriously thinking of changing the car as it just doesn't seem to like being on the track.
Back to the actual track day and obviously William was the fastest person there. Way better and faster than everyone else, lol. More seriously though, it's tough in the beginners group as the car itself doesn't make as much difference as the age of the driver. There were a couple of cars in his group that seemed to be getting along quite quickly. The McLaren and a couple of Mustangs. As for me, my first session was awful. I was way too cautious, braking way too early and couldn't seem to get anything right. I even felt a little sick after my first outing. The break between sessions seemed to do me good and I did progress through the second and into the third session. I had started at the back and got by a couple of cars having most fun with the M2 that can be seen in a couple of pictures. The car started to act funny after the third session, but seemed to reset and I did go out into the fourth, but only did half the session before something felt really wrong. I was actually going really well in the fourth, but the day ended there for me.
I did initially say I didn't want the photos of me given the day I'd had, but I changed my mind the next day. The photos are mixed of William in the 76 and myself in the 42. The one unfortunate one of me is when I'm really wide in turn 3 going past the M2. He's spun in front of me and I was hoping he'd caught me coming through the dust to get that dramatic effect, but it looks like he was positioned further round the corner from where the spin happened.
