Another successful bird hunt from the email distribution list. A note was posted that there was a wood duck on North Lake at Golden Gate Park. Really didn't think we would find it, however, we had to head into the city for a couple of reasons, so we decided to stop by briefly for an hour. Thankfully we bumped into a couple of very friendly people who told us where to find the duck and then met a really interesting old lady who was writing detailed notes in a book about the duck and seemed to know every bird in Golden Gate Park by name.
It was almost unfortunate that we only had an hour at the lake as there was a lot to see from the red-shouldered hawks that were hanging around to the common raven that appears to be eating the young of a blackbird - seriously, we saw this where the wood duck was and the blackbirds were continuously dive bombing it, but I think it was too late as it appears to have already snatched its snack.
